Tragic Death of Pune-Based Realtor: Autopsy Reveals Head Trauma

Pune-based realtor Nikhil Khanna (36) tragically died on Friday after sustaining a nose injury during a quarrel with his wife, Renuka Jakhar Khanna (38). According to the police, primary findings of the post-mortem conducted at Sassoon General Hospital on Saturday revealed that Khanna also suffered a head injury.

Altercation Leads to Death

Khanna, a resident of Ganga Satellite housing society in Wanwadi, and his wife had an altercation at their home, during which she allegedly assaulted him, ultimately leading to his death. Wanwadi Police are investigating the case.

Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Patange of Wanwadi Police Station stated that Khanna may have fallen to the floor and hit his head on the ground after receiving a blow to the face. The police will investigate whether the blow to his nose was a punch or an assault with a blunt instrument.

Wife Arrested and Charged

Police arrested Renuka after Dr. Pushpraj Khanna, her father-in-law, registered a complaint against her with Wanwadi Police. In his complaint, Dr. Khanna stated that Renuka was angry with Nikhil for not taking her to Dubai to celebrate her birthday in September and not giving her a gift she liked on their marriage anniversary earlier this month. She was also upset that Nikhil was not confirming travel plans or arranging her flight tickets to travel to Delhi for her niece’s birthday in December.

Renuka was booked under section 302 of IPC and was produced before a magistrate on Saturday, who granted the police her remand until November 28.

Love Marriage Turns Sour

According to the complaint application submitted by Dr. Khanna, Nikhil married Renuka in November 2017, and the couple stayed with his parents at their residence in Ganga Satellite. Although it was a love marriage, quarrels began soon after the wedding. Dr. Khanna said that despite counseling, Renuka’s behavior did not change, and she frequently fought with domestic workers, making it difficult to retain any house help.

On Friday, Dr. Khanna received a call from Renuka asking him to rush home as she and Nikhil had a fight. Upon entering the room, he found his son lying on the floor, bleeding from his nose and mouth. Despite attempting CPR and seeking help from society security guards to take him to the hospital, Nikhil was declared dead.
