Chipotle Honors Kansas City Chiefs Star Travis Kelce with Unique Renaming

In a playful tribute to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Chipotle Mexican Grill has renamed one of its Kansas City locations. The decision was inspired by one of Kelce’s old tweets that recently resurfaced, in which he misspelled the popular restaurant chain’s name.

Travis Kelce’s Old Tweets Go Viral

As Travis Kelce’s popularity continues to rise worldwide, fans have been digging through his old tweets, some dating back to 2009. Among these tweets, fans discovered a 2011 post where Kelce mentioned needing some “#chipolte” after a busy day of class and therapy. The tweet quickly gained attention, and Chipotle was not one to miss out on the fun.

Chipotle Responds with a Witty Renaming

Chipotle quote-tweeted Kelce’s 2011 post, saying “it’s me, hi,” in a nod to Taylor Swift’s popular “Anti-Hero” lyrics. The company then announced that it had renamed its 4151 Sterling Avenue location in Kansas City to “Chipolte” before the Monday Night Football game between the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. The sign at the location, just minutes from Arrowhead Stadium, was altered to reflect the new name.

Fun and Lighthearted Gesture

This renaming demonstrates Chipotle’s lighthearted approach to engaging with fans and customers, even when it comes to poking fun at itself. As for Kelce, it’s a unique and memorable tribute from a popular restaurant chain, and a reminder that everyone makes mistakes—even professional athletes.
