Cullman Association of Realtors Launches Annual Toy Drive

The Cullman Association of Realtors is once again hosting its annual toy drive to benefit children in need this holiday season. From now until December 13th, the association will be collecting new items for children involved with the Cullman County Department of Human Resources (DHR).

Addressing the Needs of Over 40,000 Children

According to Alabama DHR, over 40,000 children are currently involved in open cases for various reasons, many of them living in foster homes and temporary placements across the state. The Cullman Association of Realtors’ annual toy drive aims to bring joy to these children during the holiday season.

Monica Williams, Cullman Association of Realtors Co-Chair, explained that the toy drive started as a small company-only luncheon where members brought toys to sponsor a child’s Christmas. However, as the need for support around Christmastime grew, the association expanded its efforts and began reaching out to the community for help.

Donations Needed

Donations for the toy drive include new items such as Barbie dolls, Nerf dart guns, craft kits, board games, Hot Wheels, earbud headphones, and small learning toys for infants and toddlers. Clothing and shoes in all sizes are also needed. Older teens have requested items like makeup, body spray, and clothing store gift cards.

In addition to toys, the Cullman Association of Realtors is also collecting new household essentials, as many families have needs beyond just Christmas presents. “We usually end up helping five to six families in addition to the toys we donate,” said Williams.

Drop-off Locations

Drop-off locations for donations can be found around Cullman at EvaBank branches on Alabama Highway 157 and Cherokee Avenue, ERA Waldrop Real Estate, Weichert Realtors, and Home League Real Estate. For more information, contact Rita Fromhold at 256-338-6956.
