New Riverfront RV Resort Opens in Fort Smith, Boosting Local Economy

The Riverfront RV Resort, a beautiful new addition to the Arkansas River in Fort Smith, recently opened its doors, bringing a new dimension to the area’s landscape. Co-owners Rick Griffin and Phil White invested a significant amount of time and resources into creating this luxurious retreat, with the hopes of not only generating revenue but also benefiting the local community.

A Dream Come True

Griffin and White initially proposed their vision for the 27-acre facility to the Fort Smith Central Business Improvement District (CBID) in 2021. With a total investment of about $8 million, the resort is already showing promising results, with 30 campers visiting within its first week of operation.

Impacting Fort Smith’s Economy

According to studies, the Riverfront RV Resort could generate an estimated $2.2 million in economic impact on Fort Smith, particularly the downtown area, each year. This investment is expected to contribute significantly to the growth and development of the region, providing new opportunities and attractions for both locals and tourists alike.

Resort Features and Amenities

Located just half a mile from the recently opened U.S. Marshals Museum, the resort offers a park-like setting and a wide range of amenities for guests. These include 100 RV campsites, 10 tent campsites, handicap-accessible bathrooms and showers, Wi-Fi service, an outdoor playground, a swimming pool, a dog park, and much more.

The resort also boasts a gated entry, a private boat ramp with access to the Arkansas River, and a boat dock with a fish cleaning station. Daily trash pickup service and a dedicated on-site manager ensure that guests enjoy a comfortable and well-maintained environment during their stay.

Transforming the Arkansas River Area

Fort Smith Mayor George McGill has praised the resort’s development, noting the significant changes happening along the Arkansas River. The Riverfront RV Resort is just one example of how citizens are working together to create innovative ideas and opportunities that benefit the entire community.

As the Riverfront RV Resort continues to grow and attract more visitors, it will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing transformation and revitalization of the Arkansas River area in Fort Smith. This new development serves as an excellent example of how a well-planned and executed project can benefit not only its investors but also the local community and economy as a whole.
