Whole Harvest Kitchen: A Healthy Dining Experience in Leawood
Hey there, folks in Johnson County! There’s a new spot in town for some tasty and healthy grub. Whole Harvest Kitchen just opened up in Leawood, and it’s their first actual restaurant. They started as a meal delivery service back in 2018. You can find them at 4853 W. 117th St., right next to the GNC store in Town Center Plaza.
Operating Hours and Delicious Menu
Whole Harvest Kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Their menu is all about “whole food” items like hummus bowls, Mediterranean salads, jackfruit pizzas, and vegetable dumplings. They’ve also got some sweet treats like chocolate fudge cake, dark chocolate truffles, and “nice cream” (made from bananas). They’re planning to add some grab-and-go stuff like wraps and salads too.
Everything on the menu is plant-based and oil-free, just like the Blue Zone diet. They even get some of their ingredients from local Kansas and Missouri producers.
Executive Chef’s Personal Journey
Will Harris, the head chef at Whole Harvest Kitchen, has a personal connection to the plant-based focus. After switching to a mostly plant-based diet, he saw big improvements in his health. His favorite menu items at the restaurant are the sourdough pizzas and the mushroom dishes, like the K.C. Barbecue Plate with jackfruit and barbecue mushrooms.
Expansion Plans for Whole Harvest Kitchen
Whole Harvest Kitchen wants to open more restaurants in Johnson County and across the country. Harris says they’re not trying to be just a vegan restaurant, but a place that serves great food that happens to be vegan. “We’re not trying to change the way anybody eats. But if you do this once or twice a week, maybe it’s a gateway for you to like to change or get better to get healthier,” he said.
