Whole Harvest Kitchen: Your New Go-To for Healthy Plant-Based Eats in Leawood

Hey there, Leawood folks! Guess what? We’ve got a new healthy eatery in town, and it’s called Whole Harvest Kitchen. This plant-based restaurant started as a meal delivery service in 2018, and now they’ve opened their first brick-and-mortar spot at 4853 W. 117th St., right next to GNC in the Town Center Plaza shopping center.

When to Go and What to Eat

Whole Harvest Kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Their menu is all about “whole food” items like hummus bowls, Mediterranean salads, jackfruit pizzas, and veggie dumplings. They’ve even got sweet treats like chocolate fudge cake, dark chocolate truffles, and banana-based “nice cream.” Plus, they’re planning to add grab-and-go options like wraps and salads soon.

Everything on the menu is plant-based and oil-free, inspired by the Blue Zone diet. They also source a lot of their ingredients from Kansas and Missouri, so you know they’re all about supporting local producers.

Meet the Chef: Will Harris

Executive Chef Will Harris has a personal connection to the plant-based focus of Whole Harvest Kitchen. After switching to a mostly plant-based diet, he saw some major health improvements. His favorite dishes at the restaurant include the sourdough pizzas and mushroom dishes, like the K.C. Barbecue Plate with jackfruit and barbecue mushrooms.

What’s Next for Whole Harvest Kitchen?

Whole Harvest Kitchen has big plans to open more locations in Johnson County and across the country. Their goal isn’t to be just a vegan restaurant, but to serve amazing food that happens to be vegan. Chef Harris thinks that adding plant-based meals to your diet once or twice a week can be a great way to start eating healthier.
