Vita’s Place

Underdog Wine Co. owners Ryan and Jenny Sciara are opening a cozy wine bar at 5514 Oak, near their Brookside shop. Get ready for the grand opening in early January.

Whole Harvest

Kansas City’s Whole Harvest meal delivery service is opening its first restaurant in Leawood at 4853 W. 117th St. Expect healthy dishes like zucchini bread, loaded sweet potatoes, lentil pancakes, and edamame dip. Opening in the second week of January.

Tiki Taco

With two successful spots in Kansas City, Tiki Taco is heading to Overland Park at 7514 W. 80th St. Get your taco fix starting in January.

1981 K-Chicken

Kue-Jin Hwang, Sung Jo, and Kyoungmin Kim are turning the old Steve’s Villa Capri at 10412 Mastin St. into a Korean chicken restaurant and bar. Grand opening in January.

Aqua Penny’s

The team behind Bamboo Penny’s is opening a seafood and oyster bar in the same Leawood shopping center. Aqua Penny’s will serve lunch, dinner, happy hour, and brunch, opening in February.

Lottie’s Get Down

Southern-fried chicken is coming to 4057 Pennsylvania Ave. with Lottie’s Get Down. Opening in early 2024.

The Blue Palm

Dan Doty, Roxie Danner, and Houston DeFoe are planning a tiki bar at 204 Orchard St. in Kansas City, Kansas. The Blue Palm is set to open in early 2024.

Green Dirt on Oak

Sarah Hoffmann of Green Dirt Farm is opening a fine-dining restaurant at 1601 Oak St. in the Crossroads area. Enjoy her award-winning cheeses and more, with a rooftop deck, event space, and production facility. Opening in early 2024.

Osteria Bianchi

Josh and Kelly Bianchi are bringing traditional Italian cuisine to the former Trago Bar & Tapas space at 9261 N.E. 83rd Terrace, near Liberty, Missouri. Opening in early 2024.

Meddys

Wichita-based Meddys is expanding to Lenexa, on the southwest corner of West 88th Street and Maurer Road. Enjoy shawarmas, hummus plates, and salads inspired by Lebanese culture. Opening in March.

Sushi Kodawari

Austin’s Karson Thompson is opening Kansas City’s first omakase restaurant at 2100 Central St. This intimate fine-dining sushi spot will have just an eight-seat counter with two seatings per night. Opening in spring 2024.

Carne Diem

Louis Guerrieri and Sarah Nelson, who opened Ombra in 2022, are planning an upscale meat market and seafood counter at 4179 N. Mulberry Drive. Opening in spring 2024.

The Fresh Mediterranean Co.

This Middle Eastern restaurant started in a Lawrence Cenex gas station and is now expanding to a fast-casual spot at 3904 Bell in Kansas City. Enjoy chicken shawarma, falafel, hummus, and gyros. Opening in spring 2024.

Night Goat

Fox and Pearl’s Sunday barbecue pop-up is getting a permanent space in the West Side restaurant’s basement at 2139 Summit. Enjoy barbecue sandwiches and tacos in a honky-tonk dive bar setting. Opening in late spring or summer 2024.

Enjoy Pure Food + Drink

Staci Cross is expanding her health restaurant concept to Lenexa, as part of a project called Restaurant Row near 87th Street and Renner Boulevard. Opening in September 2024.
