Whole Harvest Kitchen: A Fresh, Healthy Option in Leawood

Hey there, Leawood folks! Good news for all you health-conscious eaters out there – Whole Harvest Kitchen has just opened its doors in our lovely town. This plant-based eatery started as a meal delivery service back in 2018, and now they’ve got their first real-life location at 4853 W. 117th St., right on the east end of Town Center Plaza shopping center.

When to Go and What to Eat

Whole Harvest Kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Their menu is all about whole food goodness, with tasty options like hummus bowls, Mediterranean salads, jackfruit pizzas, and vegetable dumplings. And don’t forget dessert – they’ve got chocolate fudge cake, dark chocolate truffles, and banana-based “nice cream” for your sweet tooth. Plus, they’re planning to add grab-and-go stuff like wraps and salads soon.

Everything on the menu is plant-based and oil-free, inspired by the healthy Blue Zone diet. They also source lots of their ingredients from local Kansas and Missouri producers, so you know you’re supporting local when you eat here.

The Chef’s Story

Executive Chef Will Harris has a personal reason for focusing on plant-based food at Whole Harvest Kitchen. After he started eating mostly plants, he saw some big improvements in his health. His favorite dishes at the restaurant are the sourdough pizzas and mushroom dishes, like the K.C. Barbecue Plate with jackfruit and barbecue mushrooms.

What’s Next for Whole Harvest Kitchen

The plan is to open more Whole Harvest Kitchen locations in Johnson County and beyond. They’re not trying to be just a vegan restaurant – they want to serve amazing food that just happens to be vegan. Chef Harris thinks that adding plant-based meals to your diet once or twice a week can be a great way to start eating healthier.
