Travis A. Miller, a 30-year-old resident of Kansas City, Missouri, has been charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. The court entered a not guilty plea on Miller’s behalf, and his next court date is set for December 12.

According to reports, Miller walked around the Rally House store suspiciously, carrying several clothing items in his arms without using a shopping cart. When Miller exited the store, the security sensors at the main doors triggered an audible alarm due to unpaid clothing items still having tag sensors on them.

A Rally House employee followed Miller and attempted to recover the stolen items by grabbing some of the clothing. Miller then turned and shot the employee in the left leg, causing a severe injury that required immediate surgery.

Investigation and Arrest

Following the incident, a witness observed Miller fleeing the scene and took photos of his vehicle, a black Chevrolet Trailblazer. The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) located Miller’s vehicle in the area of 152 Highway and Maple Woods Parkway. Officers attempted to stop Miller, but he refused to comply, running a red light and eventually crashing his vehicle.

Miller was taken into custody, and during a search, methamphetamine was found in his front right pocket. He is currently being held in the Platte County Jail without bond.
