Realtor Dies in Tragic Incident at Pune Residential Society

A tragic incident occurred in Ganga Satellite residential society, located in the Wanwadi area of Pune, where a 36-year-old realtor, Nikhil Khanna, died after his wife allegedly hit him on the face during an argument at their house. Renuka Jakhar Khanna, 38, has been arrested and booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code, according to Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Patange.

Investigation of the Assault

The police reported that Nikhil’s nose had been fractured and are currently investigating the nature of the assault. “It could be a hard punch or an assault by a blunt object. The blood may have accumulated in the air channel and blocked breathing,” Patange said, adding that they are awaiting the post-mortem report.

FIR Against Renuka Khanna

The First Information Report (FIR) against Renuka was lodged following a complaint filed by Nikhil’s father, Dr. Pushpraj Khanna. In his complaint, Dr. Pushpraj stated that Nikhil and Renuka married in November 2017 and stayed with the Khannas at their residence in Ganga Satellite. “It was a love marriage, but the quarrels started soon after the marriage. We used to counsel them, but Renuka’s behavior did not change. She used to fight with the domestic workers as well, which made it difficult for us to retain any house help,” Dr. Pushpraj said in his complaint.

Renuka was allegedly unhappy after Nikhil did not comply with her wish to celebrate her birthday on September 18 in Dubai. “They marked their wedding anniversary on November 5, but she was unhappy as Nikhil did not give her a gift to her liking. She had assaulted him at that time as well. We had managed to pacify them,” Pushpraj said in the complaint.

Latest Quarrel and Incident

According to Dr. Pushpraj, the latest quarrel between the couple seemed to have stemmed from Renuka’s plans to travel to Delhi for her niece’s birthday. “She was angry that Nikhil was not confirming the travel plans nor arranging her flight tickets. This was leading to fights between them,” he said in the complaint.

On Friday, Dr. Pushpraj received a call from Renuka, asking him to rush home as she and Nikhil had had a fight. “I rushed home and when I was parking, I received another call from Renuka where she told me: ‘It’s very urgent, Papa. Come quickly!’…When I entered the room, I saw that my son was lying on the floor naked and blood was coming out from his nose and mouth,” Pushpraj said in his police statement.

Dr. Pushpraj removed the blood clots from Nikhil’s mouth and tried giving him CPR. After noticing no response, he took the help of security guards to take Nikhil to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

Current Status of the Investigation

“We could not obtain Renuka’s version of the events as she is not in a mental state to talk. Presently she is in the lock-up, and we will try to talk to her today,” said Patange.

While Dr. Pushpraj runs Sparsh Polyclinic in Wanwadi and is also involved in the real estate business, his wife Saroj Khanna runs a school in Nana Peth.
